Licensed electricians
for San Diego
and Austin
Built by hand, backed for life. Licensed in California (#1109913) and Texas (#40645). Owner on every job. Written quote before any work begins. Tiered written warranty five years to lifetime.
Keil Electric is a veteran-owned, licensed electrical contractor running two shops: San Diego County (CA Lic. #1109913) and the Austin metro (TX Lic. #40645). Each location is owned and operated by a licensed electrician who walks every quote, prices the work in writing, and backs the install with a tiered 5/10/Lifetime written warranty. We do residential and commercial work (panels, rewiring, EV chargers, generators, lighting, low-voltage, code corrections), and roll a truck after hours for active power loss, sparks, or burning smells.
Two shops. One standard.
San Diego and Austin, run by licensed electricians who answer their own phones.
What it's like to hire us.
No mystery. No surprises on the invoice. Here's how a job actually goes when you call us.
We come look first
A licensed electrician walks the job with you, points out what needs doing, and tells you what doesn't. A standard service-call fee applies, disclosed up front.
You get the price in writing
A written quote covering scope, timeline, and price. We don't do back-of-napkin numbers.
Permits when required, then install
Not every job requires a permit, it depends on the local district. When one is required, we pull it, schedule the inspection, and keep your space clean while we work.
We hand you the guarantee
We walk it with you, pass the inspection, and hand you the workmanship guarantee in writing. Then we're out of your way.
Residential. Commercial. Same crew.
A licensed electrician walks the job. Written quote before any work begins.
Most contractor friction starts with a vague quote written by someone who never touched the panel. We do not work that way. Every estimate at Keil is walked in person by a licensed electrician, scoped against what is actually there, and given to you in writing before any work begins.
The diagnostic visit
The first visit is a real walk-through. We open the panel, check terminations, look at the affected circuit or area, and identify the actual root cause rather than the easy answer. Most issues sit somewhere other than where the symptom shows up: lights flicker because of a loose connection in the panel, an outlet stops working because of a backstab failure on the next outlet downstream. The diagnostic IS the job. We are transparent about the service-call fee on the booking call so there are no surprises when the truck arrives.
The written scope
You get a real quote in writing before any work begins, covering scope, timeline, and price, with a schedule that accounts for utility coordination and any required inspection rather than pretending those happen instantly. If the scope changes during the work because of a genuine surprise (an open wall reveals a previous unpermitted run, the panel turns out to be Federal Pacific instead of what we expected), we discuss the additional work and the additional cost with you in advance, and a signed change order documents the scope adjustment before we proceed.
Permits and inspections
Not every electrical job requires a permit. When one is required by the local AHJ, we pull it under our license, post it on site, schedule the rough or final inspection, and walk the inspector through the work. You receive the signed inspection card at handoff, along with photos and a parts list filed against your address for future warranty claims.
A few of the names we work for.
We do the licensed commercial work for retail, banking, hospitality, and warehouse clients across both shops. These are a handful of the accounts we're proud to keep.
Tiered written warranty. Parts and labor.
Every install we do is backed in writing for 5 years, 10 years, or for life depending on what we put in. Warranties stay with the home and transfer with the deed.
- Switches, outlets & GFCI outlets
- Lights, fixtures & ceiling fans
- EV chargers and motorized fans
- Circuit runs and wire
- All types of breakers
- Smoke & carbon detectors
- Panelboxes (on preferred brands)
- All types of surge protection
- Grounding systems
Cover parts and labor. Stay with the house and transfer to the next owner. Lifetime = as long as the home stands. Some preferred-brand limitations apply, see full terms.
Three guarantees. In writing. Every job.
These are promises with names attached. Hold us to them.
Done-Right Guarantee
Every electrical job we do is neat, safe, correct, and in line with NEC and local electrical code standards. If it isn't, we come back and make it right.
On-Time Guarantee
We arrive on time, inside the agreed-upon arrival window. If we have to reschedule, we give you ample notice, not a same-morning surprise.
Thoroughness Guarantee
Every visit comes with a complimentary thorough check of all relevant electrical systems to make sure the work we're about to do is safe. Documented and handed to you in writing.
Common questions about Keil Electric
Where does Keil Electric serve?
Two shops. The San Diego shop covers all of San Diego County from Santee. The Austin shop covers the Austin metro from Round Rock. We travel beyond those footprints for larger jobs, so call either shop and ask.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Licensed in both states (CA Lic. #1109913, TX Lic. #40645) and carrying general liability and workers' comp. Each location is owned and operated by a licensed electrician who is on every quote.
Do you do residential and commercial work?
Both. Residential ranges from a single outlet up through full whole-home rewires, panel upgrades, EV chargers, and standby generators. Commercial includes tenant improvements, retail, office, multifamily, and restaurant.
How does the site visit work?
You call the local shop or submit a request on the website. We schedule a licensed electrician to come walk the job in person, look at what is actually there, and give you a written quote covering scope, timeline, and price. A standard service-call fee applies, disclosed up front on the booking call.
What about emergencies?
Active power loss without a utility cause, sparks, smoke, or burning smell: call the local shop. Our after-hours line goes to a licensed electrician and we roll a truck. Same-day for non-emergency service when capacity allows.
What is the warranty on your work?
Tiered written warranty: 5 years on most service work, 10 years on whole-home wiring and panel upgrades, lifetime on workmanship for select installs. Covers parts and labor and stays with the property.
How fast can you come out?
For non-emergency work we usually have a licensed electrician out within 24-48 hours for the site visit, then schedule the install based on parts and any permits required. Emergency calls roll a truck the same day, after hours when needed.
Do you pull the permits?
Not every electrical job requires a permit. When the local AHJ requires one, we pull it under our license, schedule the rough and final inspections, and walk the work with the inspector so you don't have to.
Pick your shop and we will take it from there.
